LET'S CHILI

I have been invited to participate in a "friendly" Chili Cook-off.  With the winter weather giving us all a chill, my friends and I agree that some chili is just what we need to bring some heat. (Cheesy...I know).  The only chili that I've ever made was White Bean Chicken Chili and although my family loves it, I don’t think it will win first place.  Here is where I need your help.  I am looking for a good chili recipe that stands out.  Starting today, January 25, 2016 until midnight February 2, 2016 you can submit your best chili recipe in my online chili cook-off.   The winner for the contest will be based on the follow criteria:

• Originality- something that makes this chili different and stand out
• Simplicity- a recipe that doesn’t require a Michelin star chef to execute
• Flavor- I will make the top 3 recipes looking for the tasty chili

 Although my friendly charity chili cook-off has no prize, the first place winner of this online contest will win a $25 gift certificate to Chili’s Grill & Bar.  The winner will be announced on Monday February 8, 2016.

LESSON LEARNED

Happy New Year!  I am so excited for the fresh start and I can't wait to see what 2016 is going to bring. My sabbatical ended up being several months longer than expected. A lot has happened in 2015 that I can only say has made me stronger for the future. Throughout the year on Mending Maria Mondays, I will reveal more about what I encountered, what I learned and what has sustained me.

  

A few months ago I came across this saying somewhere on the internet. I took a mental snapshot of  it and I've been able to remember it the times I've been challenged by my circumstances. When I look at the miracles that have happened in my life, I appreciate them more because they were answers to prayer. In the midst of a problem you can't see your way out. But be encouraged, with faith, a miracle is around the corner to pull you out. This was my greatest lesson for 2015. May it encourage you now.
